direction and opening hours: Low season: 19th of January to the 27th of March: 10.00am - 05.00pm. 28th of March to the 03rd of July: 09.00am - 06.00pm. Main season: 04th of July to the 30th of August: 09.00am - 07.00pm. Low season: 31st August to the 24th of October: 09.00am - 06.00pm. 25th of October to the 31st of December: 10.00am - 05.00pm.

The citadel can be reached by foot from the city center. From April to September a small tourist train runs from the Rivotte/ Besancon suburb to the citadel every hour beginning at 10 am. During the summer months only, a free bus also travels to the citadel.
